[Law Amendment] Uniform Transfer Registration Fee for All Types of Rights (Effective 2023.08.01)

The amended Rules on the Collection of Patent Fees, etc. take effect on August 1, 2023.

For requests to record a transfer of rights filed on or after 2023.08.01., the transfer registration fee is set uniformly at KRW 40,000 regardless of the type of right. Before the amendment, the fee differed by type of right: KRW 53,000 for patents, KRW 40,000 for utility models, KRW 40,000 for designs and KRW 113,000 for trademarks. It has now been unified at KRW 40,000.

Accordingly, under the amended rules, a transfer of rights requires total official fees of KRW 81,600: a transfer registration fee of KRW 40,000, a registration license tax of KRW 21,600 and a stamp duty of KRW 20,000.
